
Simple Plain Sponge Cake Recipe

Ingredients:
Eggs: 8
Castor Sugar: 150g / 6oz
Plain Flour: 150g / 6oz
Salt: 1/4 tsp
Butter: 75g / 3oz

Cooking Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 190 °C / 375 °F or Gas Mark 5.
2. Beat the eggs and sugar in an electric mixer, or by hand for 8 – 10 minutes until fluffy.
3. Sieve the flour with salt, melt the butter, and fold into the egg mixture.
4. Grease a standard round cake tin and line the base with greaseproof paper.
5. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 15 minutes.
